Cannon Beach

Saturday was REALLY HOT, so my friend Mandy and I decided to go to the coast, and we met a wall of traffic! :( We ended up going to Cannon Beach, because the majority of the cars were not going that way. :) However when we got there, there was no parking spaces open. :( Here are some pictures of all the cars and people.

Here's a picture of Mandy as we're looking at all of the cars and trying to find a spot to park.
Some people were even breaking the rules to get a place to park.
They parked on such a narrow road in front of the "NO PARKING TOW AWAY" zone that I guess they thought they were safe. Who knows.
We finally found a spot, and three elderly people were walking past us as we were trying to parallel park Mandy's truck, and they helped us! We were really greatful cause she has never parallel parked her truck before. :( Then we finally got there!!!
And I've never seen it so crowded!
The weather was really nice, but the water was so cold it hurt, so we just walked around and layed in the sand! It was really nice!

Youth Conference

Friday and Saturday I went to Youth Conference!! It was a lot of fun, even though it was close to home. We had it at Pacific University. It's a really nice campus, and we went all over the campus for classes, meals, and activities. We also went all over Forest Grove for our service projects.

The first day we started at 1:00, and met at the new stadium. It was really nice, but really hot and they had us all running around for a couple of hours playing games. Sadly I had to stop playing the games to find the First Aid room. :( I wasn't too surprised when I was the first one to have to get a band aide! Red Rover is a dangerous game :). Then after the games we started our classes (mine was on modesty and feeling the spirit) then we had dinner and a fireside, then went home. I had a lot of fun!

We went back to the campus at 8:40 on Saturday and we started with a devotional, then we went to do service. Some groups stayed at the campus to do quilts and hats for premature babies, another group went to the Beehive Center (a retirement home) and sang to the elderly, Jackie's group went to Harvey Clark Elementary School to clean up garbage, and my group went to the Tom McCall Upper Elementary Schools (there's two of them) to clean up the grounds, forestry area, and parking lots (all together they said around 3 acres of land). My job was actually easier than Jackie's. Tom McCall is better taken care of than Harvey Clark. Then we went back to the campus for lunch, then on to our other 2 classes (mine were act and not be acted upon and resisting peer pressure) after our second class we had a 10 minute break then had a testimony meeting with our group. Then we went home from 4-7 to get ready for the dance. Jackie and I went home to change and then went to a friends house for pizza and to hang out till 7. Then we went to the dance from 7-10. The dance was SO FUN!! It was an outside dance at the stadium. I thought with the breeze that it would have been a lot cooler than it was, but by the end of the dance my friends and I were all sweating and tired!! This was probably one of the funner dances that I had been to. Sorry that I didn't take any pictures!

The picture above is one I found on the Internet. :) I think that it's actually one of the buildings that I went into for a class.

Midnight Showing

I went to the midnight showing of "The Dark Knight" with some of my friends. So now I'm going to give you all a little movie review! :) "The Dark Knight was REALLY good! I was kind of worried it wouldn't be that good because it's a sequel..... and normally sequels to movies are HORRIBLE! However "The Dark Knight" is totally worth seeing! It had a lot of action, and humor, and so I was jumping and laughing throughout the movie.... kind of an odd combo! :) The movie was good... oh here's a heads up... don't stay after the credits, there isn't a short little clip at the end. We stayed through the really long credits, nothing plays after the movie. Another little FYI, this is not a movie for little kids! The Joker was really, really freaky! Also Harvey Dent has something happen to him... and he gets kind of deformed, and that is kind of freaky looking too, something little kids will have nightmares about! This movie is worth seeing in theatres!

Beach Fun

Hi everyone! So, yesterday I went to the coast with my friends and we had a BLAST!! However, I got really burned! :( I was the only white person that went. All of my friends that went to the coast are hispanic and we had been talking about my whiteness. :) One of my friends Louis told me "No you're not white, you're pale!" That set us all laughing! Then he saw this picture of my arm, started laughing and said "Never mind, I take back what I said... SHE'S SO WHITE!" lol We had a ton of fun! We started off in Seaside. The same place I went for my Birthday. We had a lot of fun window shopping! When you go to Seaside you have to go to the hat store. It's so much fun! Karen, Me, and Noelia are posing with our food below! :)
Louis and Alex went with us and I had a lot of fun getting to know them. They are both from the Spanish Branch in our Stake. Both are also returned missionaries. I felt very unexotic with them! :) Louis is from El Salvador and Alex is from Venezuela, and then Karen and Noelia are from Nicaragua! Me.... well I'm from the U.S. :) Seaside was too crowded.. so we decided to go to Cannon Beach. There's good 'ol Haystack Rock!
Karen and Noelia.
Noelia and Louis enjoying the COLD water! They were all freezing when they finally came out of the water so we played in the sand to warm up!
The coast was a lot of fun! We got home an hour before mutual... then I spent the night at Karen and Noelia's house.
